Who Wants to go to Space Camp?
Attention 6th and 8th grade parents In June of 2007, Kelly Catlin and JoAnne Hoeffner of Mardela Middle High School were selected, along with 262 other teachers from around the world, by Honeywell, Inc., to attend Educators Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama for a week of action packed activities. While there, they participated in simulated Shuttle and Space Station Missions, trained on selected Astronaut training simulators, and practiced hands on space activities to take back to their classrooms. Besides having a wonderful time, learning many new things and meeting educators from around the world, Mrs. Hoeffner and Mrs. Catlin returned to MMHS with a commitment to take a group of students to Space Camp, so that they too can experience the wonders and excitement of Space Camp. We are planning a trip to Space Camp in April 2008 for three days of non-stop activities exploring the history, present and future of manned space flight. Among other activities, students and chaperones will be immersed in hands-on training for a space shuttle mission, experiencing both shuttle and space station simulators. We are only inviting 6th and 8th grade students to participate in this marvelous opportunity. A planning and interest meeting is set for October 24, 2007 at 6 PM in the MMHS media center. At that time we will discuss more particulars about the trip, dates, cost, and plans for fundraising. Only those students who have not had office referrals AND whose parents attend the interest meeting, will allowed to participate in the trip.
